Dear TAFE at School Partners
We are excited to announce the launch of our 2024 Year 10 Taster Programs across the South West region.

This program allows eligible high school students in Year 10 to try out an industry area without needing to commit to a full qualification or apprenticeship.

Please find below the available locations for our Year 10 Taster Programs in 2024 at South West, please note offerings differ across campus locations:
Skills Taster - Agriculture
Trade Taster Program (Including General Construction Induction Training Card)
Skills Taster - Health (Including First Aid - HLTAID011)
Skills Taster - Kitchen Operations
Skills Taster - Salon Assistant (Hairdressing)

Applications open at 9am on Friday 8 March 2024.

Important Points
Students cannot be currently using their VETiS funding on another program at the same time. No concurrent enrolments permitted.
Enrolment into a Taster program will not impact future VETiS funding.
Students are required to attend for the full duration of the program. Attendance every week is very important.
A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required to receive an Offer in a program.
If a student does not respond to their Offer by the deadline, their place will be offered to the next student in line.
We do not recommend that schools submit applications on behalf of students as this may cause a delay and mean that students miss out on being offered a position in the course.

How to Apply

To submit an application for the Year 10 Taster Programs, students will need to:
Go to tafeapply.com
Enter application code of TQSWTASTER24
Applying for a Taster program does not guarantee entry into the program. Applications are not a Confirmation of Enrolment. Places are limited and waitlisting will be utilised in this enrolment process.

What happens next?

Email Offers will be sent to students (and parent/guardians) as classes begin to fill. An SMS will be sent to students (and parents/guardians) to prompt them to check their inbox and respond to their Offer. Students will need to respond to their Offer by the deadline listed in the Offer email otherwise their place will be given to the next student in line. If we do not receive sufficient interest in an intake, there is potential that the intake may be deferred to another term.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our TAFE at School Team via GOTAFE.SouthWest@tafeqld.edu.au or (07) 4694 1324.

Kind Regards,

TAFE at School Team
